This is what I emailed to my sisters and to Jeremy and Jacque - I was THAT impressed:
I had the BEST conversation with Alex and Cole last night. We Facetimed and he wasn’t really feeling well so he started out sitting on her lap. And he smiled at Ama and was happy to talk to me. Then he warmed up, got up and was playing with his toys and started SINGING. It was so cute. When he realized we were listening he stopped. But the best thing was that she said dinner and he said “Soup!” because Nic was making soup and he said “wash hands”. He went to the bathroom and then held out his hands to stop Alex from following and said “stay there”. He climbed up on his stool and turned on the water, soaped up and rinsed all by himself. It was the cutest thing ever!! Then he went to his chair at the dining room table and climbed in and strapped himself in. When I was there in Aug, I had to lift him into the seat. He can do so much for himself now and it’s amazing. Plus all the stuff he said – Alex said he is really talking in full sentences but he wasn’t too chatty last night unfortunately. He’s got an ear infection and maybe strep throat so he’s on antibiotics. That’s what being in school will do for you – lots of colds.
And Alex showed me the new and improved downstairs basement entertainment area. There was wood paneling which they didn’t like. He painted over it in a light color, (too expensive to remove and re-sheet rock or whatever you do), removed dark drapes & added nice window shades and rearranged the furniture. There’s an alcove for Cole – his playroom and they have more plans for that. Of course they got a giant TV which takes up the whole wall and they want to get an entertainment center to put below the TV. It looks really good – so much better. He even put in crown molding. He’s pretty good at this stuff. I just realized he removed all the Pfish posters – that’s a BIG improvement. haha
